Beginner’s courses
Beginner’s courses run from 8:00pm-9:00pm on Thursday nights at Netherhall Upper School sports hall.
The course is structured to take you from no experience to the ability to conduct a proper fencing match. Following the course you may join the club and fence other members on electric pistes, enter competitions (BFA membership allowing) and take up the other weapons fenced by the club.
The course is taught by Michael Kranz, qualified fencing coach.
Cost
The course costs £70 for 11 weeks and includes club membership and use of all equipment (mask, weapon, jacket and glove).
What you need to bring
Please bring sports shoes and comfortable clothing. You’ll need to be able to freely move and stretch your legs so tracksuit trousers are best. Shorts or skirts should not be worn.
Make sure you bring a bottle of water.

Intermediate courses
The intermediate course is a structured course that builds on a basic level of fencing proficiency. More sophisticated weapon techniques are combined with elementary sequences to prepare for fencing bouts. Apart from partner exercises, fencing matches on the electric box are planned. All fencing equipment, including electric gear is supplied by the club. The cost is £70 for 10 weeks including club membership for the course duration and until the end of term. Concessions are available at our discretion.
