Use of ‘Sword Price Fighter’ fencing equipment
Many of you will be aware recent issues with regard to the ‘Sword Price Fighter’ fencing equipment. Following on from Notices issued by the BFA (British Fencing Notice 6th May, 7th May, 9th May) and, in light of an un-clear legal situation resulting from an adverse safety test of some ‘Sword Price Fighter’ kit, Cambridge Fencing Club is going to err on the side of caution and not allow the use of the following:
‘Sword Price Fighter’ jackets;
‘Sword Price Fighter’ breeches;
‘Sword Price Fighter’ under plastrons.
However, ‘Sword Price Fighter’ masks may be used, but only following an examination by a BFA Armourer.
As the safety of the fencers must be our first and overriding priority we feel obliged to follow the lead of the British Youth Championships in Sheffield and apply the same restrictions to the use of ‘Sword Price Fighter’ Kit at the 2011 Cambridge Open Air competition on 3rd July 2011.
Cambridge Fencing Club will review this situation once the BFA has reported on the findings of its enquiry.
